Bluebird
Documentary - 2019 - USA - English - 88 minutes
The Bluebird Cafe, for many, may not be a well known name... YET. However, if you are a country singer or songwriter, this is the Nashville equivalent of the Sundance Film Festival for independent film, the Comedy Cellar for comedians, or the Duke University Basketball team for future hoops superstars. Despite the venue’s small scale, determinedly informal, local feel, it has been the key to the rise of artists as diverse as Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Jason Isbell (all of whom appear in the film). The yearly pilgrimage by countless country artists to its unlikely location in a strip mall on the outskirts of Nashville bears witness to its iconic status. This big hearted film offers an immersion in the entrancing aura of the Bluebird’s nightly presentation of extraordinary performance of music and lyrics, reminding us all that we must follow our dreams.
