In 1987, fifteen-year old Jennifer went missing from her bedroom in a gated community in Virginia. Her parents maintained that she ran away. Her older brother Stephen never accepted that explanation, and evidence suggested that the parents knew more than they were saying. Stephen’s doubts and his thirty year quest to find the truth has totally alienated him from his parents and has consumed every aspect of his being. As the filmmakers began to explore the dissolution of this family, new evidence comes to light. No one is beyond suspicion and yes, the mystery will be solved.
