GUIDANCE

Comedy - Canada - English - 83 Minutes

Former child star turned third rate voice-over actor, David Gold seems to have hit rock bottom.  He gets fired from another gig for being too drunk and is on the verge of being kicked out of his apartment, when he happens to find a motivational tape and comes up with a new plan: he will get a job by impersonating a high school guidance counselor.  Though he flounders at first, David soon becomes the most popular adult when he figures out how to reach the problem kids at his school: through time honored traditions like booze, dope, manipulation, promiscuity, and more booze. Hilarious and raucous in the tradition of Bad Santa and Bad WordsGuidance is an incredible debut for new talent writer/director/star Pat Mills.

Praise for Guidance:

"There are trace elements of 'Strangers with Candy,' 'Role Models' and the contrastingly serious 'Half Nelson' in 'Guidance,' but that doesn’t stop Pat Mills’ debut as writer-director-star from being a delight on its own terms. This comedy about a former TV child star turned train wreck who decides to take a high-school guidance counselor job — or rather, pose as someone appropriate for that position — is consistently amusing and surprisingly uncynical in the end."--Dennis Harvey, Variety
