The Crash Reel
Documentary - 2013 – USA – English – 108 minutes
At 21, there was no stopping Kevin Pearce, a US champion snowboarder and main rival to Shaun White. While preparing for the 2010 Winter Olympics, Kevin suffered massive head trauma during a 2009 training run in Park City, Utah. His tight-knit Vermont family rushed to his side, and together they began the intensive painstaking process of mental and physical rehabilitation. Kevin’s determination and the tireless support of family and friends helped him stay focused on recovery, but when he insisted he wanted to return to the sport he loved, his family objected, fearing for his safety and his life. Directed by Academy Award nominee Lucy Walker (Waste Land, The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom) this action-filled, eye-popping and incredibly emotional film exposes the potentially high price of competing in action sports.
